Maggoteye was never the most well-liked among his former clan. Despite his hard work, most cats couldn't get over his rather abrasive outward personality and unfortunate looks. He was always scrappy looking, and the blinded, blood red eye was no help. When he first opened his eyes as a kit, many whispered about the single red eye as a bad omen, as well as the formation of a skull-shaped marking on his face. When he came of age, he had proven himself worthy to have an apprentice many times over, but was only assigned one when there was a shortage of mentors to pass them off to. Because of his distant relationship with his clan, there was a certain distrust toward him. He was to mentor Basilpaw, a spry young cat who was known to get into trouble. Maggoteye did the best he could as mentor, though as usual, he had a tough time showing his true colors, even as they became somewhat closer. However, there was an incident During training, Basilpaw went further away from Maggot than he should while the older cat's back was turned. When Maggoteye finally found him, the apprentice had been mauled by some forest creature, barely clinging to life. Before Maggoteye could rush back to camp for the medicine cat, he had already passed. It was up to him to deliver the news, but the clan didn't believe his story. Though he was obviously severely shaken from the experience, the others chalked it up to a fake display. Many referred to the "bad omen" of his left eye as the accusations of murder were thrown about. In the end, no one would stand up for the tom, and he was exiled from his clan, leaving with his pelt littered in deep clawmarks from his former clanmates. As a loner, he struggles to provide for himself, but refuses to join other cats ever again, fearful of receiving the same treatment as he once had.

Maggoteye is a dusty brown tom with an interesting white mark across his face. His chest and paws are also white. On his pelt are many scars provided by his former clanmates, and his fur is messy and wiry. One can see his bones clearly, and it is obvious he hasn't eaten well in many moons. He has one orange eye, and the other a deep red, with the iris covered by a cataract.
